The BL-44 Reverse Variable Clock Effector is a standalone stompbox from Old Blood Noise Endeavors, which dug into the schematics for its fully featured Minim delay and reverb pedal.
According to OBNE, the reverse effect will allow players to “change the clock speed of the entire sonic system.” However, when they say “change the clock speed of the entire sonic system,” what they really mean is that the BL-44 listens to what you play and then allows you to play it backwards before manipulating it.
If this sounds like a lot to take in, it is, but the BL-44 presents all of this transformative sonic potential in a user-friendly format. This could be one of those ‘bonkers’ guitar effects pedals, but it sure looks simple and straightforward.
The Volume knob controls overall output, the Mix knob controls how much of the effected – read: reversed – signal you want mixed in with your dry electric guitar signal, and the Speed knob controls the read speed of the effect, giving you some pitch-shifted reverse guitar sounds to play with.
Finally, there’s a Clock that regulates the signal’s fidelity; pristine at one end, gnarly and degraded at the other.
The BL-44 has a soft-touch footswitch, is powered by a 9V DC pedalboard power supply, and costs $179. Visit Old Blood Noise Endeavors for more information . Brandy M Patterson of Manchester, New Hampshire, painted the cool-looking enclosure.
