This thing absolutely lives up to the hype. The amp isn’t known for its cleans, but the Boss GX 100 significantly improves them. The noise gate is fantastic, just as good as the boss ns, and it can be used in both the effects loop and in front of the amp. It’s convenient to be able to change channels on the amplifier with the boss. I can change patches so that it goes to the clean channel and then use a high gain amp and IR through it to get different heavy tones, then go back to using the preamp with just effects on the boss.I could go on and on about all the things you can do.
It’s insane how customizable this thing is. It can do anything you can think of. I don’t use the looper frequently, so I can’t comment. Even the built-in tuner allows you to tune between 6 and 7 strings to virtually any tuning you desire. Yes, it’s $600, but even if it were $900, it’d be worth it. It’s the only pedal I’ll ever need, has replaced my cluttered pedal board, and sounds just as good, if not better, than individual pedals. I know it’s a bold statement, but boss absolutely nailed it with this thing.
I spent numerous hours watching videos comparing Boss GX 100 to the helix hx, mooer, pod go, and others, and the gx-100 is clearly the better option. I really like the touch screen; it’s very simple to use and comes with PC software if that’s your thing. It can even be used as an audio interface for recording. Or simply put on some headphones and jam out on the couch without disturbing your neighbours. When listening to music through headphones, the stereo effects are downright addictive. I have yet to find a single complaint about this thing, and aside from the guitar and amp, it’s the single best thing I’ve ever purchased for playing music.
