The Scarlett Solo, the simplest model in the lineup, offers singer-songwriters a reassuringly simple recording process. Scarlett Solo has the same professional sound quality throughout the third-generation range because it is equipped with high performance 24-bit/192kHz AD-DA converters.
It has a single upgraded third-generation Scarlett mic preamp with a switchable air setting to mimic the air effect of Focusrite’s original ISA mic preamp, giving your vocal recordings a brighter and more open sound.
The high impedance, high-headroom instrument input lets you record guitar or bass without clipping or unwanted distortion, and gain Halo metering makes setting the input level simple. When connecting studio monitors with balanced inputs, Scarlett Solo’s balanced outputs are hum-free, ensuring pristine audio playback. Scarlett Solo is built to withstand long days on the road and connects to your Mac or PC via USB cable, requiring no external power.
The Scarlett Solo bundle includes the Hitmaker Expansion, an unbeatable collection of tried-and-true studio tools from some of the industry’s biggest names.
The Hitmaker Expansion includes:
- Antares Auto-Tune Access
- Relab LX480 Essentials
- Softube Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555

The 2i2 3rd Gen is an excellent addition to the product line. Generation III assists this brand in maintaining its position at the forefront of audio interfaces. I had recently sold a previous interface and found myself in a situation where I needed to record and produce something within 48 hours. I ended up with a 2i2 3rd Gen, which was ideal.
The Good:
Unlike other reviews, you DO NOT require any external drivers. It truly is “plug-and-play,” as they say. External drivers are only used if your specific setup requires them. My scenario was as follows: connect USB to laptop, open DAW, set input to 2i2, and record. What latency is there? That is no longer the case.
The Bad:
The included software (ProTools First and Ableton Live Lite) will take much longer than the 20 minutes they estimate to set up. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to set up multiple accounts on platforms for downloads and digital licencing. The included software primarily serves to increase the product’s marketability. Your BEST options are to purchase a ProTools monthly subscription ($$), purchase Reaper ($$), or use Audacity (for free).
If you own a Fender Mustang I or II guitar amp, you dont need to buy any audio interface as the Fender Mustang amps have built-in audio interface that can easily to your PC. All you need is the Fender Fuse Software and an app like Audacity or Reaper. Fender FUSE application is available for free download from our website.
