Since 2018, I’ve been a proud owner of Fender Mustang I, V2 Modelling amp, which I still use to play and record guitar at home with the help of the Fender Fuse Application.
Fender Mustang I is the first of the Mustang Series of the Fender Line of Mustang Modelling Guitar Amps. The main reason for sticking with the Fender Mustang I is the Fender Fuse desktop application, the fender mustang 1 software which works in tandem with the Mustang I and II amps to provide much greater versatility in terms of preset creation, storage, and deep editing. Load the fender mustang 1 software onto your PC or Mac, connect the amp to the computer using the included USB cable, and you’re done! The computer and the amplifier are now in two-way communication.
The Fender FUSE software interface is stunning, with colourful and realistically rendered front panels of the amps, stompboxes, and studio effects it’s modelling. However, it also allows you to access parameters that are not available on the front panel. For example, in the effects section, you can access the advanced parameters of the Stereo Tape Delay, such as Delay Time, Feedback, Flutter, and Separation. There’s even more, such as additional amp models (Fender ’57 Champ and ’65 Princeton, to name a few) and effects, such as Pitch Shifter and Touch Wah, with computer-editable parameters.
In addition to providing access to parameters not accessible on the front panel, Fender FUSE software functions as a preset Librarian, allowing you to recall and load an almost infinite number of your own arrangements into the amp. Using Fender FUSE, you can load any 24 sounds into the amp. This allows you to personalise your Mustang V1 Amp by, say, style, creating an amp that’s all blues, all metal, all rock—or whatever.
Fender ended support for the Fender Fuse in late March 2020. Thousands of Fender Fuse presets, as well as the Fender Fuse software, were removed. The reason for the takedown is that Fender is pushing their Mustang GT and Mustang GTX amplifier series, effectively forcing people to buy something new.
Although the Fender Mustang I has been discontinued, thousands of owners of the Mustang I and II amps continue to use them. This section of my website is dedicated to Fender Mustang I and II owners, and I will do my best to share new and old Fender Fuse Presets for free download so you can keep using your Fender Mustang I and II amp.
